Jim White – 20/1 to quote “Hold on to your hats” on deadline day

Let’s face it – this year’s Summer transfer window has been much more exciting than Winter’s was.

Yet with a little under 24 hours to go there is still a lot of business likely to be done as the rumours continue to spread.

And whilst the anticipation to the deadline builds, you can guarantee that no-one will get more excited that Sky Sports News’ very own ‘Mr Transfer Deadline Day’ himself, Jim White.

The only thing Jim loves more than transfer deadline day is a good deadline day cliché. And even given the amount of activity we’re expecting, Paddy Power’s special market on Jim’s first cliché might eclipse ANY transfer dealing on the night.

Some of the obvious frontrunners in this market include “Put pen to paper” (5/1), “Gary Cotterill outside Spurs Lodge” (33/1) and “Weighing up his options” (20/1).

A couple of others include “Spotted at the training ground” (18/1) and according to Paddy Power, the most likely, The clock is ticking” which heads the market at 7/2. [Read full article »]

Golovkin to score a knockout at 11/10 | Boxing Tips

Felix Sturm, Daniel Geale, Gennady Golovkin and Grzegorz Proksa are not exactly household names in the UK but this quartet of boxers fight in two different world middleweight title bouts this weekend. Who said you needed a household name to make a good tip anyway?

The first of the middleweight double header sees Sturm take on Geale in which looks a close fight on paper. Sturm is a slight favourite with the bookies (currently best price 4/6 with SkyBet) to successfully defend the WBA title he has owned since 2007 but British duo Matthew Macklin and Martin Murray have shown the champ is beatable in recent fights. Theo Walcott 7/4 to make Man City switch

With Theo Walcott seemingly ready to leave the Emirates after rejecting a new contract, SkyBet have priced up where he will be plying his trade come the end of the Transfer Window, with Man City (7/4) leading the way for his signature.

SkyBet have priced up all of England’s top clubs, given that rumours have circulated around pretty much all of them throughout the summer, offering odds of 9/2 for him to make the move to Anfield, whilst he is 20/1 to make an unlikely return to Southampton and as big as 25/1 to join up with Robin Van Persie at Old Trafford. The life and crimes of Joey Barton

Joey Barton has hit the headlines once again this week after tweeting about a possible move to Marseille, once which has now seemingly fallen through.

He has been quick to critisise his employers (not for the first time) after being forced to train with the kids following his 12-match ban for lashing out at Sergio Agüero in the final game of last season.

So whilst his future remains in doubt, we have taken a brief look back at the 29 year-old’s misdemeanors, all of which have contributed to his reputation. [Read full article »]

Arsenal 13/5 to score less than 5 goals in September

After racking up two goalless draws from their opening games, bookies have priced up a number of specials around Arsenal’s performance in September, with a few catching the eye.

Arsene Wenger’s side will be under pressure to pickup points, and indeed find the net, but with 4 tough Premier League games to play in the month of September, they might find both hard to come by.

So much so that bookies Victor Chandler make the Gunners just 13/5 to score less than 5 league goals, and 19/10 to pick up less than 5 more points in September. [Read full article »]

Johnson to snub Sunderland after late interest from AVB?

Man City wide-man Adam Johnson looked set to join the Black Cats before the weekend, with bookmakers SkyBet offering just 1/8 for him to complete his move before the transfer window closes.

But after a flurry of bets this morning, SkyBet have been forced to cut his odds of joining Tottenham from 8/1 to just 5/4, meaning that his odds of moving to the Stadium Of Light have drifted to 11/10, making him still slight favourite to make the move further North as opposed to South.
