What is the River Bet?

The River Bet is like a rolling accumulator bet with an interesting twist…

This idea came from our ‘£10 to £10k challenge‘ which was when we started with placing all the winnings from each bet on to the next one. The trouble with that is that one losing bet and all the hard work is gone to waste. With the ‘River Bet’ the winnings are split equally, the idea being that even if one of the nominated bets loses, you will still have some balance to play with and keep the bet going. Also it means that we don’t have to focus on one match/horse at a time, we can spread the interest over multiple events to make it a little more interesting.

So why is it called ‘River Bet’?

Well, we start with a ‘source’ (ie betting balance) and then the ‘river’ splits evenly into smaller ‘streams’, with the returns being funneled back into the river.

The diagram below should help explain it better, but basically we have a start balance (i.e. £10), then split the balance equally (in this case with 2 x £5 bets at Evs). Hopefully both bets will win meaning that we move to £20. But in the example below one bet loses, one wins, so our returns are £10, meaning that the bet is still alive!

We will record all our bets here so you can see how we’re doing. We would love you to take part either by following ours, or by doing your own River Bet. Let us know how you are getting on by using the hashtag #BBBriverbet.

Good luck!
