Ladbrokes World Hurdle

The Ladbrokes World Hurdle is a Grade 1 hurdle race for horses aged four years and older. It is the third Championship race of the Cheltenham Festival and run over a 3 mile trip.

The race was first run in 1972 and was known as the Stayers Hurdle, until bookmaker Ladbrokes became the sponsors of the race in 2005 and the race has since been known as the Ladbrokes World Hurdle.

Big Bucks will return this year, hoping to record a 4th win in the race. Other multiple Word Hurdle winners are not unusual, but that said only one other horse, Inglis Drever, has won the World Hurdle on 3 separate occasions (2005, 2007 and 2008).

Paul Nicholls will look to become the first trainer to win the race four times, when he saddles up Big Bucks again this year. There are two other trainers that also have three World Hurdle victories to their name; Fulke Walwyn and Howard Johnson.
