England need to recover. And quickly.

Dec11

Australia cruised to a 2nd successive victory in Adelaide to pile even more pressure on Alistair Cook and co. Down Under.

They now have a commanding 2-0 lead in the series and come into this 3rd Ashes Test knowing that one more victory would see the famous urn return to Australian hands.

England were well-fancied to retain the Ashes before a ball was bowled, but are now as big as 30/1 in the betting (Paddy Power) to win the series (Australia 1/12SkyBet).

They have simply not scored enough runs to put themselves in contention to win a match so far and that has top change if they are to have any chance of winning a match, let alone retaining the Ashes.

Australia are the bookies favourites to complete a hat-trick which is no surprise. SkyBet are offering odds of 8/11, with William Hill offering best price 9/2 for an England win.

A 5-0 whitewash is now just 4/1. Incredible when you consider England were odds-on when they landed in Oz.

If you  do fancy England to retain the Ashes you can get 12/1 for a 2-2, or 25/1 to win 3-2. Anybody? Anybody??

Mitchell Johnson has been the main man in the Australian bowling attack, taking another 8 wickets in the 2nd Test after we tipped him for Top Australian bowler at 5/2.

He is 15/8 to be top Australian bowler in the 3rd test but we are taking a chance on Peter Siddle (7/2Bet Victor) who also impressed in the Adelaide Test.

Michael Carberry caught the eye in the 1st Test and is 5/1 to Top Score for the visitors, but we are siding with Kevin Pietersen (4/1) who is due a big score and England fans will be hoping this comes sooner rather than later.

Selections:
Top England Batsman – Kevin Pietersen – 4/1 (Bet Victor)
Top Australian Bowler – Peter Siddle – 7/2 (Bet Victor)
