Premier League Darts Tips – Week 2

The Premier League Darts continues tonight in Aberdeen and we’ve picked out what we think are the value bets for tonight’s matches…

(All prices courtesy of Victor Chandler – see special ‘Money Back’ offer below)

* Wes Newton (11/4) v Raymond van Barneveld (4/6) – Draw 4/1

Barney seems to have rediscovered some of his old-form of late and is throwing some tremendous darts again. He put Anderson to bed quite easily last week averaging over 102. Newton has improved his game over recent months but was poor last week and will need to improve if he is to threaten the Ducthman.

We fancy RVB to have enough to see off Newton given their current form and 4/6 looks a decent price.

*Andy Hamilton (7/4) v James Wade (Evs) – Draw 7/2

This should be a cracker! The Hammer has improved significantly over the last 18 months and is now one of the most consistent players on the circuit. He missed a double to go 6-5 against Thornton last week and eventually lost 7-5. he will be looking to bounce back here but will have to overcome James Wade who himself impressed on his way to beating Wes Newton last time out.

The match is a tough one to call but we will be playing in the Most 180’s markets here and Hamilton (4/6) is the bet. He hit 4 last week, whereas Wade tends to switch to T19/18 quite often and is generally not a big 180 scorer.

* Gary Anderson (13/8) v Simon Whitlock (11/10) – Draw 10/3

Anderson will have the crowd behind him here and will no doubt have plenty shots at the double given his prolific scoring. But it will all come down to whether he can hold his nerve against an in-form Whitlock who comfortably defeated Adrian Lewis last week.

Both of these players are prolific scorers but we fancy Anderson to edge the Most 180’s market (5/6) in front of his home crowd.

* Adrian Lewis (10/3) v Phil Taylor (1/2) – Draw 4/1

2 time-World Champion Lewis has been out of sorts for over a year now and went down 7-3 against Simon Whitlock last week. Phil Taylor has has somewhat of a resurgence in recent months and will be brimming with confidence after claiming a draw against MVG when he looked dead and buried last week.

Whilst we think Taylor will win this, its a toss-up as to whether he can cover the handicap. Instead we’ll opt for Taylor’s 3-dart average to be Under 100.5 (5/6) as we don’t see Lewis pushing him too hard.

* Robert Thornton (10/3) v Michael van Gerwen (1/2) – Draw 4/1

Thornton got off to a great start seeing of Andy Hamilton last week but faces a tough task against ‘Mighty Mike’ here. The Dutchman played out a thrilling 6-6 with Phil Taylor on the opening night (after being 6-4 up!) and should have enough to see of Thornton and notch his first Premier League win.

Both of these players score for fun and the bet that stands out here is the Total Number of 180s – Over 6.5 (5/6). MVG hit 7 alone against Taylor last week, while Thornton managed 5. They should be able to score 7 or more between them here in the final match of the night.
