Back the Silverback to send Part packing

We’ve been in great form with our tips so far on the William Hill Grand Slam of Darts tips having tipped up 12 winning bets from 16, with last night’s headline tip (Mervyn King to beat James Wade at 11/10) winning comfortably.

Tonight sees the round robin stage draw to a close with lots of places in the knockout stages still up for grabs!

In the opener, reigning World Champion Adrian Lewis takes on Gary Anderson. Lewis is already out regardless of the result and we fancy the Scot to pile more misery on “Jackpot” Lewis at what looks a decent price (10/11 with Coral).

Barrie Bates was awful in his last group match but there’s not much value in backing his opponent Brendan Dolan tonight at 1/5 over the short format. Instead we’ll be backing the Under 1.5 180s in the match at 11/8. Both players rarely stick to the treble 20 so this might represent some value.

In the fourth match of the evening Raymond Van Barneveld takes on Wayne Jones, and whilst this depends on what sort of mood Barney is is, it might be wise to opt for Jones on the +2.5 handicap with SkyBet at 4/9.

John Part will be looking to build on his last performance but is up against an in-form Tony O’Shea tonight. If O’Shea plays anything like he has so far in the tournament he will cause “Darth Maple” some problems and we fancy him to end Part’s tournament at 4/6 (Paddy Power).

Hamilton v Nicholson looks like one of the matches of the night and whilst we expect a close encounter, we’ll be backing Andy Hamilton at 4/5 (Boylesports) to take the spoils. The Hammer has only beaten his opponent once in 6 meetings, but that was last time out and is a different player this year.

We also like the look of Hamilton to score more 180s than “The Asset” too at 6/5, as he has been hot on the treble 20 this week.

The penultimate match of the evening looks to be another cracker on paper as Wes Newton takes on Terry Jenkins. Both players have shown glimpses of brilliance at times but Newton has won 5 of his last 6 meetings with “The Bull” and we fancy him at 4/5 (Boylesports) to increase that ratio further.

And in the final game Christian Kist looks a good price at 4/6 (Paddy Power) to get the better of Mark Walsh. The bookies seem to have underestimated Kist in the betting and the Dutchman should have enough to progress to the knockout stages of the tournament with 3 wins to his name.
