Trust King to get the better of The Machine

We had 6 winning bets from 8 in last night’s William Hill Grand Slam of Darts tips and we’ve got another 8 matches to get stuck into as the round robin stage draws to a close.

Whilst a race to 5 legs (best of 9) often throws up the occasional shock if a player starts slowly, we think the following bets represent some good value on day 4 of the Grand Slam of Darts…

In the opener Arron Monk should have no problems against the Dutch Jan Dekker, a player who has been terribly disappointing losing both his games so far by a 5-1 margin. Monk beat James Wade by the same scoreline earlier in the group and 4/7 (Ladbrokes) looks good value here, as does the -1.5 leg handicap (Evs, Boylesports).

Mark Webster came into this tournament in poor form but saw off Scott Waites in his opening match and we fancy him to beat Co Stompe in tonight’s second match at 1/2 with Sporting Bet.

James Hubbard has lost both of his group games thus far by a 5-2 scoreline and we can see “The Artist” Kevin Painter (1/2 with Boylesports) easing past the 20-year-old tonight. The -1.5 leg handicap might also represent some value at Evs (Boylesports) if Painter can get off to a good start.

Mervyn King has won his opening 2 matches, whilst James Wade will need to win this one to progress having lost to Arron Monk is his opening game. We fancy King to make it 3 from 3 however (11/10 with SkyBet) with a small bet on him to score the most 180s in the match (6/4, Bet365) as he likes to stay on the lipstick.

We’ll be avoiding the Taylor v Waites match and instead be backing Simon Whitlock in the penultimate game of the night.

“The Wizard” is another player to have won both his opening 2 matches, including a thrilling 5-4 against Painter. He’ll be looking to continue his good form into the knockout stages and has to be backed at 1/2 (SkyBet) to see off Dean Winstanley.
