15/8 for the Ivorians to win the AFCON is real value

Ok, this might seem like an ‘obvious’ tip but we feel that this represents real value and sometimes it is best not to talk yourself out of a bet which is glaring you in the face…

Let’s face it, the Ivory Coast should win the African Cup of Nations which is due to get underway later this week.

They are unbeaten in their last 21 matches, winning 16 and drawing the remaining 5.

They did lose one of those matches on penalties against Zambia in the last AFCON final, but that was 2 years ago and they are bang in form coming into this year’s tournament. In fact they won their final warm-up game comfortably (4-2 against Egypt) despite not really paying well.

The Ivorians have been scoring goals for fun (13 in last 4 games) – failing to score in just 2 of their last 21 and averaging nearly 2.5 goals/game; not really a surprise when you see the quality of midfielders/strikers they have in the squad.

Their squad boast some huge names plying their trade in some of the top European Leagues and beyond including Drogba, Toure (x2), Tiote, Tiene, Kalou and Gervinho.

Despite losing in the final of the last AFCON on penalties, we expect them to go all the way this time around and 15/8 with Victor Chandler is an excellent price.

Ivory Coast Squad for 2013 AFCON:

Goalkeepers: Boubacar Barry (Lokeren, Belgium), Badra Ali Sangare (IAFC), Daniel Yeboah (Dijon, France).

Midfielders: Max Gradel (St Etienne, France), Abdul Razak (Manchester City, England), Romaric (Real Zaragoza, Spain), Didier Ya Konan (Hannover 96, Germany), Cheick Tiote (Newcastle United, England), Yaya Toure (Manchester City, England), Didier Zokora (Trabzonspor, Turkey).

Forwards: Wilfried Bony (Vitesse Arnhem, Netherlands), Didier Drogba (Shanghai Shenhua, China), Gervinho (Arsenal, England), Salomon Kalou (OSC Lille, France), Arouna Kone (Wigan Athletic, England), Lacina Traore (Anzhi Makhachkala, Russia).

Got something to say?
