Young 11/1 to net first against Les Bleus | England v France Preview

England will finally get their Euro 2012 campaign underway on Monday afternoon when they host an in-form French side.

Roy Hodgson‘s men are as big as 23/10 (Victor Chandler) to win the game, whilst France are 6/4 favourites with Bet365.*

The Three Lions will surely take a point from this game, giving them every chance of progressing with games against Sweden and Ukraine to come.

Ashley Young has been in fine form for England in his last few appearances and he is 7/2 to score anytime and 11/1 to score first – both of which might be worth a small bet.

Les Blues come into the game on a 21-match unbeaten run and Laurent Blanc will be keen to ensure his team don’t go out with a whimper in the same way they did under Raymond Domenech 2 years ago. They are 6/4 to win the group and have been backed in from odds of 12/1 into 8/1 to win the tournament before they have even kicked a ball.

England’s injuries have been well documented of late and they will of course be missing Wayne Rooney for this game too, which may present an opportunity for Welbeck to start after netting in their final warm up game against Belgium. The young Manchester Utd striker is 9/1 to break the deadlock.

Chelsea pair John Terry and Ashley Cole were slight concerns earlier in the week, but they both now look set to start after being declared fit.

Gael Clichy and Laurent Koscielny are pushing for starts for the French, after Patrice Evra and Philippe Mexes have failed to impress in recent weeks.
