Affelay 9/2 to net against Danes | Holland v Denmark Preview

After a thrilling start to Euro 2012, attention turns to the perennial ‘Group of Death’ as Denmark face the difficult task of trying to take something from World Cup finalists Holland.

The Dutch unsurprisingly come into this game as 4/6 favourites and are just 8/5 to complete the HT/FT double according to bookmaker Bet365.

They beat the Danes 2-0 2 years ago on their way to the Final in South Africa and you can get odds of 13/2 for a repeat scoreline (Paddy Power).

Coach Van Marwijk has hinted that Robin Van Persie will be preffered to Klass Jan Huntelaar up top, and the Arsenal striker is 4/1 to score first and 11/10 to score anytime with Bet365. RVP scored twice in Holland’s final warm-up game in a 6-0 demolition of Northern Ireland.

Another player who impressed on that occasion was Ibrahim Affelay; scoring one and winning a penalty for another. He is a big 14/1 with Stan James to net first, yet is as short as 8/1 with some other bookies. That looks decent value should he start.

In a group as difficult as this (including Germany and Portugal) the Danes will almost certainly have to take something from this game.

They may try to take a chance and come out and play a little, which will leave space an opprtunity for the likes of Van Persie, Robben and Sneijder to expliot. With that in mind the Over 2.5 goals looks a decent bet at around 6/5 (Ladbrokes).
