Man City v Villarreal – Match Preview

Manchester City look set to recall Sergio Aguero for their must win Champions League qualifier against Villarreal on Tuesday evening.

The Argentinian trained on Monday ahead of a possible return and the tabloid media are reporting that he may be thrown straight back into the starting XI after recovering from a groin injury.

Aguero (4/1 1st goalscorer – William Hill) may take the place of Mario Balotelli, who will serve the final game of a three-match European suspension.

Roberto Mancini will have a near fully fit squad to choose from after resting David Silva (7/1 1st goal – William Hill), Edin Dzeko (5/1 – William Hill) and Samir Nasri (7/1 – William Hill) against Aston Villa at the weekend, a game in which the Blues still ran out comfortable 4-1 winners.

Defender Micah Richards is also available for selection despite being forced off against Villa with a knock to the head.

Man City come into the game as strong favourites in the betting (1/3 – Boylesports), whilst Villarreal are 10/1 (William Hill).

If the price about a City win is a little short, especially given their Champions League inexperience, then perhaps a Draw HT / Man City FT result makes more appeal at 10/3 (William Hill).

Got something to say?
