Messi is yet to score against a Serie A side, so why is he 1/3 to do so tonight?

We all know Lionel Messi is one of the greatest living players, some say of all time even.

And whilst he boasts a winning record against Italian clubs (three wins, three draws, one defeat in his seven games against Italian opposition), the Argentine has not scored a goal from open play in 610 minutes of action against Serie A teams in the Champions League.

So why then is he 1/3 to score anytime against AC Milan tonight, and just 7/4 to open the scoring with bookmaker SkyBet?

Premier League managers once bragged about how they managed to keep Messi quiet, and rightly so given that it took 11 games for him to find the net against and English side. That said, since then the floodgates have opened, with the Barca star scoring 8 in his last 6 against Premier League opposition.

While Barcelona will probably go through tonight (and are 1/5 to do so), the 1/3 with the bookies for Messi to score is a silly price, and one which the Betfair layers will be out to get (currently 1.64 on Betfair at the time of writing).
