Ploiesti fan gets kicking after attacking Steaua’s Galamaz

So a bog-standard Romanian top flight game between Steaua Bucharest and Petrolul Ploiesti couldn’t generate too much interest, could it? Well think again…

The game was a feisty affair to say the least, with the game eventually being abandoned due to a number of violent incidents, including a player being punched in the head by a fan and a ‘keeper being rushed to hospital with ‘serious injuries’ after being pelted with a flare in the fracas that followed.

The match was pretty lifeless until a Ploiesti fan decided to make his way to the pitch, strolling past a bunch of stewards seemingly on a tea-break, on his way to giving Steaua defender George Galamaz a mighty whack on the back of the head.

Not only that but Galamaz’s team mates then went on to give the thug a well-deserved kicking on the pitch; two of which got sent off for their part in the vigilante justice.

The match then resumed for just 3 minutes before a flare was thrown at Steaua goalkeeper, Ciprian Tatarusanu, leading to utter chaos on and off the pitch – forcing the referee to have no choice but to call the whole thing off and head home in time for X-Factor.

Just be thankful that we managed to kick mindless violence and racism out of English football in the 1980’s…

Got something to say?
