Top 5 Own Goals of All Time

Summer signing Carl Jenkinson made an impactful start to his Arsenal career, by volleying one home from 25-yards past an outstretched keeper.

The only problem was that the goalkeeper was Arsenal’s very own Wojciech Szczęsny!

After seeing this beauty from Jenkinson, we thought it only fair to come up with another 5 (well 6 in fact) better own goals.

So here goes…

5) This Japanese Goalkeeper does his best Graeme Swann impression and manages to spin the ball into an open net despite seemingly being in total control of the ball.

4) Manchester City’s Jamie Pollock showed some Matt Le Tissier-esque skill, control and most of all composure, as he lobbed the ball over the ball over an opponent before heading in from 12 yards; a goal which eventually sent City into the 3rd tier of English Football.

3) Crystal Place’s Tony Popovic somehow managed to turn this cross into his own goal with a back-heel flick that even Gianfranco Zola would be proud of.

2) Whilst playing in France, Frank Queudrue managed to bury this stunning own goal from fully 40-yards, before having the audacity to go and blame his team-mates!

1) An obvious one, but a classic one too! Bury’s Chris Brass with a great finish off his nose, making it one of the greatest own goals of all time!

Special mention:

Although it didn’t make the top5, our own-goals lost wouldn’t be complete without devoting a special mention to this classic goal scored by the wind. YouTube was invented for this own goal…
