Royal Ascot Tips – Day 2

Day 1 of the 2013 Royal Ascot meeting was certainly a day for the bookies with 5 of the winners being priced at 15/2, 8/1, 20/1, 9/1 & 16/1.

But now they have filled up their pockets with punters’ money they’ll be getting greedy and offering even more offers, cashbacks, enhanced prices and concessions for us to take advantage of.

Let’s draw a line under Day 1 and hopefully we can make a quick return to profit on Wednesday!

Don’t forget to take a look at Ladbrokes’ refund if finishing 2nd, and Bet Victor’s refund if Richard Hughes finishes in the frame. Both excellent offers which copped a couple of times yesterday!

We normally advise our free daily racing tips to a single one point stake per bet. However due to the nature of the the meeting, and the fact we’ll be tipping on every race, we’ll be advising on a point scale ranging from 1pt to 5pts.

Royal Ascot Tips Day 2

2:30 Jersey Stakes

Gale Force Ten – 5/1 (Bet Victor)
3pts Win
Favourites have a poor record in this race, but Gale Force Ten can buck that trend as he his form is much better than his opposition today. The Ballydoyle colt finished 2nd to Magician in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and could be O’Brien’s 3rd winner of the meeting. French runner Mutin is also an interesting runner for Jean-Claude Rouget.

3:05 Duke of Cambridge Stakes

Duntle – 3/1 (Ladbrokes, Bet365)
4pts Win
A trio of C&D winners line up for this but we’re sticking with the classy Irish runner Duntle from the David Wachman yard. She won the Sandringham here last year and crossed the line first in a Group 1 at Leopardstown only to lose the race in the stewards’ room. Michael Stoute will be confident of spoiling the party with his runner Dank.

3:45 Prince of Wales’s Stakes

The Fugue – 6/1 (Bet365, Paddy Power)
3pts Win
Camelot completed the English & Irish Derby double last year but has been nothing short of a disappointment since then and must be overlooked in what looks a competitive affair. Roger Charlton’s lightly-raced Al Kazeem destroyed Camelot on their last meeting but we’re taking a chance on The Fugue, who may well have won on her last start in the Breeders’ Cup Fillies And Mares Turf had she not been trapped on the rails. She should threaten the front two if fully wound up for this.

4:25 Royal Hunt Cup (Handicap)s

Educate E/W – 14/1 (Bet Victor, Bet365)
1pt E/W
Just the 30-runner handicap run over a straight mile to pick the winner of next! The Royal Hunt Cup is notoriously competitive and this year’s renewal is no different. One place to start may be with the trends and some of the key ones are that 9 of the last 11 winners carried 9-1 or less, and 5 of the last 6 were won by a 4 or 5 year-old. We’ve opted for Educate who has won 3 of his last 4 races (although this is much tougher) and will be held up for a late surge by Jamie Spencer. You could make a case for most of these but Excellent Guest and Prince Of Johanne also arrive here in good form.

5:00 Queen Mary Stakes

Rizeena – 7/1 (Bet365)
1pt E/W
A wide open 2yo contest over 5f and another which is difficult to judge the form in. Richard Hannon saddles 4 runners, including Fast who was very impressive on debut. We like the look of Clive Brittain’s Rizeena however, who has already won here and was an easy winner in a Listed event at Sandown LTO.

5:35 Sandringham Handicap

Hint OF A Tint E/W – 10/1 (Bet Victor, Bet365)
0.5pt E/W
Another big handicap to round of the day’s action. In terms of the stats you should be looking for a horse in the top half of the handicap (8 of last 11 winners carried 8-11 or more) and one that has won over at least 7f before (8/11 have done so). We’ve opted for David Wachman’s Hint Of A Tint going on her 2nd in the Group 3 Irish 1,000 Guineas trial. Waterway Run might be capable of running a place at a big price for the bang-in-form Ralph Beckett, and the same goes for Marco Botti’s Senafe.
